In it, Rachel Forrester deals with an unfaithful husband and a disintegrating marriage while trying to maintain some stability for her two kids, Kendall, age 9 and Nick, 15. As a high school guidance counselor, she isn't supposed to fail at this most basic relationship. With the divorce come financial troubles, so she's forced to move in with her mother. Surely things can't get worse...but they do. The surly, reclusive writer next door is Cameron Ford, the father of a boy who committed suicide five years earlier. Cameron believes Rachel, as his son's guidance counselor, should have somehow prevented the tragedy. She is much conflicted by her attraction to Cam. If you have read previous books I've written, you'll know that I invariably throw in some particularly troublesome element, then guide my character through the maze to a hopefully happy resolution. I won't tell you what crops up in IN CONFIDENCE, but it is much worse than an unfaithful husband and a hostile, grieving father. As the story progresses, Rachel and Cam begin to suspect that something really evil exists in Rose Hill, something that threatens the people she loves, something that has already taken one young victim. So, settle back and prepare yourself for the story of a shocking secret in a small Texas town...but it could happen anywhere.
